William Jennings Bryan appears as a parrot, symbolizing his long-windedness and tendency to voice stock phrases repeatedly about the same issues. The image is similar to a 1904 Puck cartoon of Bryan. Here, the 1908 presidential nominee is upset that he will soon embark on a lengthy speaking tour for his election campaign, but will be unable to collect lucrative lectures fees as he had been for years.
